WORK PACKAGE 1: Project management

Planned tasks: 

Task 1.1 

1.    Coordination of scientific and technical activities and monitoring of project implementation with the organization of workshops. 

2.    Administrative and financial management of the project. 

3.    Coordination of the implementation phase of the project with the National Science Fund and the presentation of the reporting materials. 

Deliverable

Documentation of the project activity and preparation of project reports. 

Task 1.2 

1. Establishment of scientific contacts with the library collections, in which manuscripts related to the project are preserved: 

·      Bulgaria: Cyril and Methodius National Library - Sofia, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences – Sofia, Ivan Vazov National Library - Plovdiv; 

·      Serbia: National Library of Serbia – Belgrade, Serbian Patriarchate Library – Belgrade, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Art Archives – Belgrade, Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church – Belgrade, Matica Srpska – Novi Sad; 

·      Mount Athos: libraries of the monasteries of Zograf, Hilandar, St. Panteleimon, the Great Lavra; 

·      Russia: State Historical Museum – Moscow, Russian State Library – Moscow, National Library of Russia – Saint Petersburg; 

·      Vatican: Vatican Apostolic Library, etc.

Deliverable

Contracts for the scientific cooperation with repositories of materials, with permission to study their manuscripts and the dissemination of project results. 

Task 1.3 

Creation of effective models to be used, together with further developments, for research in the field of Slavic digital palaeography. 

Deliverable

Preparation and presentation of the new project for Bulgarian or European competitions. 

Results, which will be used for evaluation of the intermediate or final report of the project 

Ensuring the implementation of the scientific and technical activity and reporting of the project activity. 

 

WORK PACKAGE 2: Creation of new scientific models for the identification of medieval Slavic handwritings.

Start and end of the work package: from month 1 to month 36

Planned tasks: 

Task 2.1 
Collection in a single database of specialized scientific literature, pivotal for the description and identification of specific medieval Slavic handwritings and so, copyists (writers) from the XIV century. 

Deliverable 
Creation of a database, supported by a bibliography on the subject matter. 

Task 2.2 
Scientific discussion with Slavic, Greek and Latin palaeography specialists from around the world, as also the organization of the related online workshops. 

Deliverable 
Elucidation of some critical points and issues in the existing literature with the final purpose to identify South Slavic writers. 

Task 2.3 
Research, construction and application of new models and tools for the analysis, understanding and identification of medieval Slavic writing. 

Deliverable 
Construction of reliable models and tools, pivotal for labelling medieval Slavic handwriting. 

Task 2.4
Organization of a scientific forum at the end of the project. The final results of the conference will be presented through specific lectures, organized in universities in Bulgaria and abroad. Especially the cities, where the libraries that participated in the project are located, will be involved. Furthermore, the results will be shared in various international scientific conferences (eg. Congress of Byzantine Studies in Venice (2022), Congress of Slavists in Paris (2023) and/or others) 

Deliverable
Diffusion of the project achievements and introduction of the results with the scientific community. In particular, we will proceed with the participation in scientific conferences and the creation of related scientific publications. 

Task 2.5
Collection of scientific reports from the various conferences that took place, and simultaneously, the organization and preparation of the overall material for the press. 

Deliverable
Creation of a scientific collection of the materials, presenting the final results of the project

Results, which will be used for evaluation of the intermediate or final report of the project
